The Wet Mountain Valley is rich with active, older adults who strengthen our community with generous contributions of their time and talents. Yet aging in place in a rural area can also bring real challenges—especially for those who sometimes need a bit of help to remain independent.
While developing LandingWellWMV.org to connect seniors with local wellness resources, it was no surprise to hear that in remote communities like ours, neighbors and friends are usually the first line of support. Some might say this is how it has always worked in the Valley, but not everyone has the connections to tap into that kind of support these days.
That’s why the Landing Well Fund is pleased to support the launch of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, in partnership with the Central Colorado Area Agency on Aging (CCAAA). This new volunteer-driven program connects residents with trusted neighbors for companionship and practical assistance on an ad hoc basis. Get to know your neighbors by lending an occasional helping hand!
